Curtains For Clunkers

The new national health care plan, Care Regulation for U.S. Households Enduring Rationing (CRUSHER) has run into trouble. It had been expected that this vehicle for delivering health care to U.S. citizens would result in better care and reduced costs for participants.

Unfortunately, many physicians have dropped out of this program due to lack of reimbursement. After only two months of operation, CRUSHER appears to be having cash flow problems. Since there are such limited funds available, the remaining MD's are offering seriously ill patients (jocularly referred to as "clunkers") an inexpensive way to end their suffering: a heart-stopping potion called MakeWay. MakeWay renders hearts unusable for organ transplant purposes, but such operations have become extremely rare (unaffordable).

The President has announced the end of all CRUSHER reimbursements at the end of next month. He says the program has accomplished its goal of raising the level of health in the population as a whole by reducing the number of "clunkers". He is considering a new, more focused, plan that would directly reimburse families of "clunkers" who elect to take the MakeWay formula.

The President is determined that this new "Cash For Clunkers" program will be even more successful than the original.

The Voice Of The People

At town hall meetings around the country, people are speaking out about health care, and about the takeover of this nation by a cadre of elitists who care nothing about the traditions that made this a great country.

People are asking politicians, our supposed representatives, who they think they are, preaching to us instead of listening to us.

The responses are chilling. They call us mobs, swastika-bearers, shills for the GOP...anything but what we are: American citizens who are fed up with our government and its efforts to micromanage our lives. We look at what has happened since January 21, and we're appalled and fearful of what more could be done to ruin the fabric of the United States of America.

We look at videos of the town hall meetings and see people being pushed around by thugs. Are these bullies the precursors of Barack's civilian army? How else will he keep an unruly citizenry in check?

It would be a lot easier to keep us in line if all our health records resided in Washington, and we were at the mercy of bureaucrats when faced with life-threatening illnesses. Sounds like a plan.

Oregon Health Plan Says "Drop Dead"

Barbara Wagner, 64, of Oregon, is suffering from lung cancer. She had been in remission, but her oncologist found that her cancer had returned, and prescribed an expensive drug, Tarceva, that could prolong her life. The Oregon Health Plan refused to pay.

Instead, they sent a letter offering hospice care, or drugs so that her physician could assist her suicide. Administrators overrule physicians in this plan, a harbinger of the national health plan Congress seems hell-bent on foisting on us, despite being regularly lambasted by their constituents at town hall meetings.

Other Oregon residents have had similar experiences. Barbara, however, is one of the lucky ones: Genentech, manufacturer of Tarceva, has agreed to supply her with the drug for free. So, the evil capitalist drug company shows more compassion than the State-run health plan.

Royal Pain

Great Britain's National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE)has put strict limits on painkilling injections for back pain sufferers.

If the cause of back pain is unknown, doctors are ordered to offer patients remedies like acupuncture and osteopathy. This could lead thousands of people to suffer excruciating pain if they can't afford expensive private treatment, but could save the National Health Service (NHS) 33 million pounds per year.

The British Pain Society maintains that many patients will end up undergoing risky and unnecessary surgery under the NICE guidelines. Or they could end up addicted to opiate drugs. Society members are so outraged that they have removed Dr. Paul Watson, who helped write the guidelines, from the Presidency of their organization..

Cancer patients in the UK have it even worse. Only 1 in 5 doctors tell these patients about drugs that could prolong their lives, but that aren't approved by the NHS because of their high cost. The cost of a drug is compared with the time it could prolong life. If it is too high, you don't get it. Doctors fear telling patients they could live longer, but only if they can come up with a lot of cash.

This could easily be happening in the USA in a few years. The President supports a national health board to make decisions on our medical care. The wild 'stimulus' spending occurring now will mean cost-saving measures will be necessary.

The stimulus we need is the mandate that Congress must enroll in any new national health plan they decide to pass.

Man Made Global Inundation

Yes, you read it right. Mankind is responsible for yet another natural phenomenon.

Large amounts if particulate matter in the atmosphere, caused by human activity, are causing an abnormally high number of raindrops to form; they then fall to earth in such quantities, that we are in danger of total inundation!

In light of the seriousness of this situation, which could lead to our all being swooshed off the face of our planet, President Boobama has taken swift and decisive action.

Since particles float about in the atmosphere, it's nearly impossible to trace them to their source, and force the producers to snare the little devils before they can do any harm.

Therefore, Boobama has ordained a new tax on property owners, assessed according to the amount of rain that falls on their land and buildings. Each property owner must install a digital rain gauge, which will then be connected to a network and routed to the IRS.

The IRS will establish a database of each taxpayer's land holdings, and calculate total rainfall for each property. The exact tax rate per gallon has not yet been established, but with every new Boobama measure to 'save our economy', it will undoubtedly get higher.

A ray of sunshine: tax credits for those who build swimming pools and other structures that will capture and hold excess rainfall.

The Voice Of Reason

In the matter of Henry Gates, Jr., our foolish and arrogant President behaved exactly the opposite of someone who is above racial politics. Eyewitnesses attest to Gates' pugnacious behavior. Photos clearly show a black officer at the scene, who in no way appears to be upset by Gates' arrest.

Yet President Oblivious pronounces that the Cambridge police acted "stupidly". I beg to differ. Sergeant Crowley, by all accounts, is an exemplary policeman, and his is the voice of reason.

Now the President is backpedaling, talking about having a beer with Crowley. Strictly Amateur Hour.

Halfwit Nation

Our beloved representatives in Washington seem to think that most of us are half-witted. Or maybe that's just on their wish list.

It would really be cost effective for them to put something in the water that would mentally incapacitate us. Then it would be so much easier to pilfer from our pocketbooks. Just think, no more embarrassing town hall meetings, either, where the citizenry is better informed than they are about the bills they support.

As it is now, important legislation quickly gets uploaded to the Internet, where many of us study it far more thoroughly than do our beloved representatives. Most of them seem to have such trust in our Teleprompter-In-Chief, that they don't feel the need to know what they're voting on.

Take health care, for instance. The President himself, when questioned by a blogger, said He wasn't familiar with the provision that would kill private insurance. What kind of leadership is this? Particularly, when He has promised that private insurance would remain viable.

Then there's climate change. It's been going on for billions of years, but now we're supposed to panic because Al Gore and the Prez say we're causing it, and we're all going to die if we don't spend a lot of money to hamstring our economy. They can talk all they want, but as long as we have our wits about us, most of us will recognize this for the self-serving lie it is.

This is an intelligent nation. We will not put up with this campaign to to turn us into a second-rate country. We are outraged at our leaders who apologize to foreign heads-of-state, and denigrate the greatest free nation on Earth.

This tyranny of mediocrity is doomed to failure. They have underestimated us.

Prez' Citizenship In Doubt

If you think that doubts of President Oblivious' citizenship are discussed only on the Internet, you need to see this video:

Patriotic Americans are seriously questioning the lack of a true birth certificate for Mr. O. When someone brings a court case(there have been many) challenging His legitimacy, a flock of lawyers shows up, but no birth certificate. If there is one, it sure would be cheaper and quicker to just whip it out and shut everyone up.

Chaos

The turmoil in Iran continues. Mehdi Karroubi, defeated Iranian presidential candidate and reform cleric, is attacked on his way to prayers. Thousands of Iranians are still chanting "Freedom!" Does President Oblivious care? People crying out for freedom must be beneath His notice, for He says nothing. Not surprising, since He's doing his best to take away our freedoms here at home.

Unemployment continues to rise. Our debt is huge, and it's likely that other countries will start avoiding the purchase of our Treasury notes. This means the printing presses will be working overtime, producing more funny money, further devaluing our currency. The only difference between the plight of California, and that of the U.S., is that the U.S. government can print money. Poor California has to cut spending or go out of business.

Nancy Pelosi claims that the American people support the health care bill. I don't know one person who does. I think she knows that this "support" comment is a lie, but why should she stop now? The mainstream press never questions the drivel coming out of Washington.

So, we have a teleprompter President presiding over a failing economy, delusional Congressional leadership, and no sense of national purpose or unity coming out of Washington. Chaos.

Yes, our Feckless Leader looks cute throwing out a baseball, but the magic is gone.

Health Care Bill Is Ill

The new health care bill was just released - over 1,000 pages! Why so many pages? Regulations! For instance, regulations about renting powered wheelchairs, about stopping smoking, about how to deal with dementia. Yes, the government wants more power over your life than ever before. Your personal freedom is on the line.

There will be a new government health board: bureaucrats to make decisions about your health care. To pay for this board, everyone's health insurance will be taxed. Who would willingly pay a bunch of bureaucrats to interfere with his/her health? I will have nightmares over this, while the President and His cronies are deciding who will get the plum assignments on this board.

There is even a tax on those without "acceptable" health care coverage. So don't think that just the "rich" will be paying for this bill. The "rich" tax will only raise half the money necessary to support this health care program, and that's assuming that they don't figure out a way to avoid paying this extra 5.4% on their income.

We will all pay. It will cost some of us our lives. Just picture a United States where all the immigrants have been legalized (more Democrat voters) and your tax dollars are paying for their health care. You turn 65, and need a life-saving operation, but there's no money to keep an old person like you alive. You will be sacrificed for the "greater good".

This is happening right now in Canada and the UK. France has a better system, but they're running a huge health-care deficit that threatens to bring the whole thing down. Is this part of the New World order? No wonder I'm reactionary.

Pelosi Strikes Again

Queen Nancy was displeased. Caught lying about what she knew, and when she knew it, and playing "liar, liar!" with the CIA, she decided she wouldn't discuss these matters any more, and wanted to "move forward."

Now she wants to slither backward, and find ways to vilify the actions of the CIA under the Bush administration. And, of course, Dick Cheney is in the crosshairs. Liberals love to hate Cheney, and I think the biggest reason is that he doesn't give a damn what they think.

So, with this country now the most indebted in the history of the world, the Democrats and President Nero continue fiddling around. Will the country dance to their tune?

Vote Of No Confidence

Assurances from Washington about the economy are falling on deaf ears. When you hear, "Well, the figures aren't as bad as we expected," you know the economy is in the tank.

Consumers are smarter than politicians: they are cutting their spending, not sinking us deeper in debt. The chart above says it all. The gray lines indicate recessions, and the consequent drops in consumer spending; the current drop is by far the worst in almost 60 years.

I wonder what would have happened if, instead of the "stimulus", we had enjoyed a big tax cut. That would have put me in a better spending mood. How about you?

Two Degrees Of Obfuscation

The G8, including our Feckless Leader, have decided that they will play God. They agree that they should keep the World's temperature from rising more than 2 degrees Centigrade.

The G8 are wealthy countries whose leaders feel that their citizens will put up with this lunacy. They continue to insist there is a scientific consensus that climate change is man-made. (They have to call it "climate change" now, since we are in a cooling trend these days.)

A group of eminent scientists beg to differ with the claim of consensus. Their statement can be found on the web site of the Cato Institute.

Fortunately, the majority of the G8 citizens have the common sense to laugh at this hooey. But they won't be laughing when the bills start coming in, straining already overtaxed economies.

Who will benefit from this sort of nonsense? A big beneficiary will be the Chicago Climate Exchange. Can you guess who founded this boondoggle? Would you believe it was Al Gore and Henry Paulson? That says it all, doesn't it?

Big Babies In Media

Sarah Palin's resignation came as a complete surprise to the mainstream media, so they went on the attack. How dare she do something unexpected? What chutzpah, speaking off the cuff - no notes or teleprompter. Who does she think she is?

They are labeling her erratic, ditzy, unstable, and worse. These spoiled brats are in a major snit. If Sarah were one of the elitists now hanging out at the White House, she might give a damn. As it is, she has the courage to blaze her own trail, and not get sucked into the excesses of the Beltway crowd.

Sarah Palin will always be considered a threat by diehard Liberals. Even they can perceive her resonance with the average person, her ability to talk to them, not make pronouncements from on high. She would never hold phony, scripted news conferences.

Elitist Republicans turn up their noses at their own peril. Sarah is a hero to the rank-and-file. Don't tread on her.

Pope Got Raw Deal

Pope Pius XII has often been vilified as having been complicit with the anti-Semitism of the Nazis under Adolf Hitler. It's a popular belief that the Vatican twiddled its thumbs while Jews were being annililated.

The Pave The Way Foundation has done an extensive investigation into the activities of Pope Pius XII before, and during, World War II. Amazingly, they have found not one shred of proof to support the popular perception. In fact, there is extensive evidence to the contrary.

If you go to the Pave The Way web site, you'll find reams of documentary evidence, much of it from primary sources, that shows that Pius XII was a great supporter of, and advocate for, the Jewish people. In fact, he was instrumental in saving many Jewish lives.

This investigation is just one piece of the work the Pave The Way Foundation does. It's mission is to pave the way to peace by removing obstacles between the religions and by initiating gestures of good will.

Are They Happy Now, Or Are They Scared?

The critics of Sarah Palin have been many and varied. Bitchy Democrats, stuffy Republicans, the just-plain-jealous, to name a few. And now Sarah, who withstood an almost unheard-of amount of vilification, investigation, and obscenity with amazing grace and toughness, is leaving the arena. Or is she?

I hope that question gives her enemies sleepless nights. I hope they worry about what she may be thinking, planning, strategizing.

Much of the hatred focused on Sarah Palin came out of fear. She stood up for herself and her principles, the same principles so many of us hold dear. She is a superior communicator, whether she drops a few "g's" and sounds like a soccer mom, or not. Sarah resonates with Americans in a unique way. And so she is feared by those who would twist this country mercilessly into something the Founding Fathers would have abhorred.

When Sarah made her entrance at the Republican Convention, with a speech that brought down the house, she became a marked woman, someone who needed to be destroyed and ground into the dirt. And so the muck-rakers headed to Alaska, certain that no one could really be as good as Sarah Palin appeared. They raked and raked, but could come up with nothing that would stick. But if the mud doesn't stick, you can still stick your target with huge legal bills.

Sarah was one of the poorest people ever to run for such a high office, with a family income well under $200,000. So the vultures now have her and her family $500,000 in the hole. I'll bet John McCain hasn't put a penny in her defense fund.

Her speech resigning as the Governor of Alaska was both bold and touching, like Sarah herself. She has always genuinely sounded like what we see so rarely, a true public servant, driven only by what's good for her country.

I hope the future holds great things for Sarah Palin, but most of all, I wish her happiness.

Canadian Health Care Difficulties

Recently, I was surprised to hear a shocking story about health care in Canada. They have the kind of system that the Democrats keep trying to foist on us.

First, you need to know that c. difficile is a bacterium that can cause symptoms ranging from diarrhea to life-threatening inflammation of the colon. It most often affects older adults, and usually occurs after a course of antibiotics. It's pretty well known that antibiotics can kill the beneficial bacteria in your intestines, giving malicious bacteria free rein. Taking probiotics can alleviate this problem, but overburdened doctors on the public payroll probably have no time to worry about such finicky details.

What I heard was that in Quebec, c. diff. is 5 times more common than in the U.S., and in order to minimize the problem, deaths are underreported. How? If anyone 55 or over dies of c. diff., their death is attributed to old age.

Is this what we have to look forward to? I'm feeling sick already...

Sign The Health Care Petition

If you're worried about the government takeover of health care, you owe it to yourself to go to this petition stating that: we need to be able to choose our own doctors and our own plans; that we should have access to the treatment that we need; that we don't want the government making health care decisions for us.

After you sign, you'll get access to an excellent paper from the National Center For Policy Analysis, called "Ten Steps to a Patient-Friendly Health Care System".

Personally, I think we need legislation that puts Congress and the President in the same health plan that they prescribe for us.

Michael Savage Is Right

Today Michael Savage, on his radio show, called what has happened in the U.S. a soft revolution. We have been taken over with honeyed words and insidious tactics. He is so right.

Our President is now supporting leftist Honduran President Manuel Zelaya, who was summarily removed from office because he sought constitutional changes that would allow him to stay in office beyond his allotted term. The Honduran judiciary, congress, and army were outraged at Zelaya's actions.

Is our President looking to the future, when he plans to try something similar? He has shown little respect for our Constitution, so why not?

P.S. At His press conference today, the best comment from a journalist was a quacking ringtone.

President of What?

Our President was elected with slogans like "Yes, We Can", "Change", "Hope"; but He's put us on a course that has us headed for the rocks. He was inaugurated the President of the United States of America, but apparently would rather wind up the Divine Leader of the Disassembled Union of Disabled States of America.

He clearly is not working collaboratively with Republicans as He promised. His henchmen have no qualms about twisting arms, and promising pork, to get reluctant Democrats to toe the line and vote for bills they haven't even read.

Other governments are starting to see the folly of man-made climate change, but He goes blithely on maintaining, unchallenged, that a scientific consensus exists. He cold-bloodedly talks about health care for the elderly: maybe they should'nt have that expensive operation, but make do with pills.

His policies are weakening the economy, social fabric, and defenses of the U.S. Is He such an ideologue that He is blind to the results of His actions? Does He even care about this country? I think not. I think this President is wedded to his Marxist ideas and bloated self-image and has never appreciated the true foundations of this republic.

In January, this country was not in the greatest shape. The Bush administration had ventured into Stimulus Land, the economy was shaky, the housing crisis was rolling on, terrorists were still a threat, but we stood for something.

Now we are in complete disarray, wondering what this leader of ours will try to wreck next. How much longer will we be able to be proud of the United States of America?

Democrats Gone Wild

This is a day of injustice. This is a day of infamy for the Democratic Party. Against the will of the people, the party of 'the little guy' has passed a bill that could bring our economy to its knees.
Similar legislation is responsible for the debacle that is now California.
Rep. Tom McClintock of California cited an example where a locality saw its electricity cost double because of "green" legislation. "Cap and Trade" even acknowledges the cost penalties, by providing allowances to low-income families to defray increased expenses. What about the rest of us? Perhaps we could enjoy some of the goodies the Dems want to hand out if we could just train ourselves to breathe CO2 and exhale oxygen.
If the Senate cannot stop this bill, the will of the people will have been thwarted. The House was flooded with calls and emails opposing Cap and Trade, but caved in to Pelosi, Gore, and the President, anyway.
Whose country is this? How could this nightmare be happening? We are going to be competing in a very competitive global economy with both hands tied behind our back, if this bill passes the Senate. We need to contact our Senators before it's too late. And tell them to read the damn bill, for Heavens' sake.

Ungovernable Passions

What is it with these Governors? They marry women who maintain a household under difficult circumstances, who raise their kids, and help them with campaigning. But their wives are not enough. Perhaps the Gov's egos need an extraordinary amount of stroking. Maybe the pressures of holding office are just too much, and they just go haywire.

So we have Spitzer, Ensign, Stanford, and that's just recently. Is infidelity a politician's disease? Should a women ever marry one without a Draconian prenup? One that demands ruinous alimony and corporal punishment for the unfaithful?

I have another solution: Sperm Limits. No, that's not a typo. Married officeholders, male or female, would have a zero-tolerance limit on giving or receiving sperm out of wedlock. The only exceptions would be contibutions to, or withdrawals from, accredited sperm banks.

Sperm Limits is a neat, gender-neutral solution. Proven violators would automatically be removed from office, and sentenced to 1,000 hours of Dr. Laura Schlesinger.

Words, just Words..

So, the White House is telling us unemployment may rise to 10% in the next few months. What they aren't saying is that real unemployment is much higher..

To be accurate, you need to include those who have given up looking for work, and those who have had to settle for part-time employment. The DOL pegs this figure at well over 15%, not too far off from Great Depression numbers.

Meanwhile the printing presses are churning out billions of bogus dollars to stimulate this Obaminable economy. This kind of stimulus has never worked before, and it's not working now. Only China has a stimulus package that's working. Why? They already had the cash. No trillion-dollar deficits for them.

California Sinking In Debt

California is headed down the tubes. Despite Silicon Valley, Hollywood, a huge manufacturing industry, and a GDP larger than that of Russia, Canada, or India, California is likely to default.

California's debt is in junk bond territory. Unemployment is 11.5% and rising. Their deficit currently tops 24 billion, and help from Washington is not in the cards.

If California goes under, it will take the nation's purported stimulus gains with it, and then some. The entire municipal bond market will get dragged down.

And what are the Democrats in Sacramento doing? They tried to raise taxes on cigarettes and oil companies. That's the way to tighten your belt, guys! Maybe they need to head to New York for a date night.

Twilight Of The Presidency?

I am ashamed that our President chooses to make such a tepid response to the uprising over the Iran election. Our support would mean a lot to Iranians who are seeking liberty, who want their votes to count.

To the naysayers who claim our support would hurt the Iranian protestors, I say"You don't believe that - you're cowards. You would have us keep backing down on everything, until there's nowhere left to go."

Our Commander-In-Chief doesn't deserve the title. He's only decisive when it comes to firing Inspectors General who insist on doing their jobs, instead of coddling His friends.

The ABC's Of State-Controlled Media

How far will they let Him go? Apparently, ABC is the chosen mouthpiece for our Feckless Leader. Broadcasting from the White House, allowing no dissenting opinions (even as paid commercials) to sully their healthcare propaganda special, ABC is probably the envy of the other networks.

It's almost breathtaking how virtually every good thing about our America is a target of this administration: private enterprise, free press, moral authority, rugged individualism. I don't think this is what most voters bargained for.

We at least deserve someone with the courage to take the brutal oppressors in Iran to task. We're still the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. He must not succeed in turning us into just another timid socialist state..

President Milquetoast

So He thinks that Ayatollah ali Khameini is "concerned" about the violent election dispute in Iran, and He "worries" when he sees freedom fighters being met with violence. So what?

Where is the vehement statement that this country supports all people who desire freedom? Reagan and the Bushes would have made statements in support of the Iranian protestors in no uncertain terms. Even Clinton might have stepped up.

But we are stuck with President "deeply concerned" Milquetoast. He just wants to be liked. He's good at being liked, but He has a wish-bone instead of a backbone.

And perhaps He identifies with a government that keeps the populace in check by any means. So why "meddle"?

Jawboning Healthcare

I'm not looking forward to a healthcare system that limits my options more than the current one. From other countries with "national healthcare" we hear of people who are deemed by the system to be too old to receive expensive cures, or who die before they get a procedure that would have saved their lives.

I don't care what He says, His healthcare plan would be just another of His initiatives that would make us second rate. Of course, costs would go through the roof - why else would they even be thinking of taxing healthcare benefits. Surgery might be hard to get, but they'll be operating on your pocketbook!

Gas Prices Going Wild!

It's amazing that, with gas prices rising higher every week, that there isn't an outcry for Him to intervene. The major media outlets seem to be ignoring this story. Need we ask why?

This is just a part of the truly awful economic situation we're in. One of the few experts who is telling the true story is Martin Weiss. It's well worth your while to sign up for his free newsletter, but only if you think you can face economic reality.

Time for Conservatives to Get a Grip

These are hard times. Everyone but His fanatical followers is getting nervous about the course we're on. He fancies himself akin to the Great Emancipator, but I see him as the Great Eviscerator, ripping at the vital organs of a country He seems to despise.

Now is the chance for Conservatives to appeal to those who still love this country, the greatest nurturer of freedom on Earth. Most Americans are conservative at heart, and I think their minds are ready for the voice of reason. The "American Idol" has feet of clay. He cannot sustain His popularity if He continues on this reckless course. He has already done four years worth of damage, so I think we should call a time out.

I Hope I'll Have some Change Left...

The history books generally give a fairy-tale luster to the reign of FDR. We think, "Well, he got us through the Depression." Really! Then why was unemployment at 20% in 1939? Why did the stock market continue to fall throughout 1930's?

Herbert Hoover started a relatively small-scale "bailout" when the stock market crashed in 1929. FDR, who ran on a platform of spending cuts and tax reduction in the 1932 election, proceeded instead to pull out all the stops on government spending. And so we had the Great Depression.

Today we have a crisis of even greater proportions. In 1936 we had the biggest single deficit in U.S. history: 4.76 percent of GDP. Now, it is just about triple that percentage, at a conservative 13.4%. But who's counting? After all, He is in charge.

Dedicated to He-Who-Shall-Remain-Unnamed

Our current U.S. President, to whom I will refer as "He", or "Him", came to most of us as an unknown quantity. He came out of the steamy sewers of Chicago politics, yet seemed not to reek of shady deals in smoke-filled rooms, or stacks of cash handed over in secret.

Even his birth was shrouded in mystery, as stories circulated of his birth in Kenya, and no true birth certificate has been produced.

A few of us did a little research and were appalled at what we found, but HOPE and CHANGE won the day. Sarah Palin, who had more executive experience than He did, and gave a better speech, and was not running for the top spot, was trashed by the mainstream media. These "churn-alists" made her out to be an ignorant, bimbo moose-hunter.

Anyway, if He hadn't been elected, I probably wouldn't be blogging.
